The test that settles it
Say the sentence aloud. If the word sounds like sweet, it is suite. That is the rare case where pronunciation settles a spelling question outright, because these two are not homophones.
“a three-piece ___” → clothing, pronounced soot, so suit.
“the honeymoon ___” → pronounced sweet, so suite.
Suite keeps the extra e, and so does sweet — the word it sounds like. Suit is the shorter word and the plainer thing.

Furniture comes in a suite — a sofa and two chairs that match. Clothing comes as a suit, even when it has three pieces. The words are near-identical in print and completely different when spoken.
Suitable, suited and suitor all belong to suit. There is no adjective from suite at all, which is a quiet confirmation of which word you need whenever you are reaching for one.
